Lyme Brook, Newcastle-Under-Lyme Project

River Name: Lyme Brook

River Basin: Humber

County: Staffordshire

Author: Paul Gaskell

NGR: SJ8520345183

Arising out of the Trent Catchment Partnership (who host the Trent Catchment Based Approach project), a partnership project was formed between the Wild Trout Trust, Groundwork West Midlands, The Environment Agency and Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council. The initial phase of this project was to assess and then improve the habitat in a historically-straightened tributary of the River Trent.

The first phase of a planned series of habitat works were delivered using a combination of WTT design, demonstration and supervision, Groundwork staff habitat work, event organisation and contract management, contracted mini-digger works and volunteer efforts from the general public and also Environment Agency staff from multiple departments on a day-release basis.
