WTT are recruiting!

A brilliant opportunity has arisen to join WTT as a part-time Conservation Officer, two days per week, to provide practical advice and help in habitat management and improvement for river interests, particularly in southern England.

The Wild Trout Trust (WTT) is a registered charity dedicated to the protection and survival of the iconic brown trout, a living indicator of the health of the landscape around us (www.wildtrout.org).

WTT works with a variety of stakeholder groups to further the conservation of wild trout, including farmers, riparian owners, fishing clubs, NGO’s, community groups, academia and government agencies.

You will need to

  • be a self-starter, highly motivated
  • have significant experience in river habitat restoration, practical project management and delivery, conservation, land and fishery management (especially for salmonid fisheries)
  • demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills (oral and written), to work with our wide range of stakeholders
  • identify and win sources of project funding
  • share WTT’s ethos and values.

You’ll offer advice and practical help to our many stakeholders and deliver river habitat improvement projects at a range of scales, from start to finish, primarily in southern England.

Since WTT staff are home-based, applicants need to live in, or be prepared to move into, this geographical area. You will join an existing team of expert Conservation Officers, working especially closely with colleagues based in southern England.

We are keen for you to start as soon as possible, initially on a one-year contract.
