“If you look at, in England, something like the Environment Agency’s data for what is damaging our rivers, the thing that is most frequent is agricultural pollution. The second thing is what’s technically called ‘physical modification’: things like weirs, dredging, moving the river, and straightening the river. All of those things are physically dysfunctional.”
Our Director, Shaun Leonard, was delighted to join the hosts of the CountrySlide podcast for a natter about rivers and trout. In the hour-long episode, they explore the pressures on our rivers, the powerful impact of community advocates, and the challenges of championing wildlife that is often hidden from view.
The CountrySlide podcast focuses on life and work in the British countryside, taking in a wide range of different perspectives. You can listen using the player below, or you can find the episode on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and most podcast apps.
