Congratulations are in order for one of our project partners, Nestlé Waters & Premium Beverages, who have found success at the 2026 Footprint Awards. These annual accolades celebrate corporate sustainability initiatives in the hospitality and food service sectors.
Nestlé won the Sustainable Use of Water category, and were highly commended for Sustainable Use of Natural Resources. They were awarded for two environmental projects, one of which was their partnership work on the River Ecclesbourne with ourselves, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, and the Chatsworth Estate.
This exciting project opened up 28km of the Ecclesbourne for fish migration, by creating a new channel to bypass Postern Mill weir — the last major barrier on the river. After this work, which followed our removal of Snake Lane weir, Atlantic salmon spawned in the river’s upper reaches for the first time in a century.
We’re honoured that this fantastic project has been recognised by the Footprint Awards, after being shortlisted for the UK River Prize earlier this year. Many congratulations to Nestlé, and our other partners, on this achievement!
