A unique opportunity for 3 rods for two days (fixed dates: 12 & 13 August 2019) to fish two private beats on the River Tyne: Lee Hall for one day and Countess Park for one day. The Tyne is consistently England’s top salmon river and salmon of 20lb and 30lb have been caught on the Countess Park beat recently. The Lee Hall beat lies immediately downstream and has been under-fished in recent years. The beats are on the edge of the Northumberland National Park near Wark, where the river runs through a mixture of woodlands and pasture giving the most unspoilt and beautiful environment to fish. Proceeds will be used to help fund work in the Tyne catchment.
One day for 1 rod guided by Stuart Wardle fishing for trout and grayling on a northern river (Swale, Tees, Eden, etc). Stuart is a qualified professional guide and owner of the Durham Fly Fishing Company based in County Durham and will share his enthusiasm for fly fishing these wonderful northern rivers. Waders and tackle can be provided. Date by agreement, 2019 season. Proceeds will be used to help fund work in the Wear catchment.
One day’s traditional boat fishing for char in the Cumbrian Lake District for 2 people, hosted by Bill Gibson and WTT President, Jon Beer. You will use the arcane tackle of traditional char fishing, handmade and refined by Bill over many years. Catch these beautiful fish in the stunning surroundings of the lakeland fells. One day for 2 rods, trout and/or grayling fishing on the River Wharfe, on 7 miles of Appletreewick, Barden, & Burnsall Angling Club water, no longer stocked, accompanied by WTT and ABBAC member, Allan Hardy. Lot winners are welcome to dine with Allan at his home beside the river the night before the agreed day but will need to find local B&B accommodation. Date by arrangement, 2019 season.
One day for 2 rods in September 2019, trout fishing on the River Ure in North Yorkshire with Marina Gibson. The Ure is a limestone river flowing through glorious scenery. Marina is a truly passionate angler who started fishing as a child. She is an Ambassador for Orvis fishing and the Atlantic Salmon Trust, a qualified Level 2 fishing instructor and freelance writer.
Update 15 March: Marina will be taking the winning bidder to the River Burn, a major tributary of the River Ure, on the Swinton Estate near Masham.
One day’s wild brown trout fishing for 1 rod on a superb Yorkshire Dales river, guided by Steve Rhodes on a highly productive and spectacularly beautiful limestone river. Steve knows where to fish and what techniques to use to make the most of the conditions. He is good company and adept at coaching in new skills and techniques, making it a great learning experience as well as highly enjoyable. Steve is an Orvis-endorsed fly fishing guide. To be taken in 2019 trout season.
One day for 2 rods, guided trout fishing on Foston Beck in East Yorkshire. Foston Beck is one of the most northerly chalkstreams in Britain rising in the East Yorkshire Wolds and eventually flowing into the River Hull. The Club’s water comprises 5 miles of fishing from Harpham to Foston on the Wolds. The river is stocked with brown trout but also has a good population of wild fish. Date by arrangement, 2019 season.
Two days for 2 rods, 30 and 31 May 2019, fishing for sparkling spring salmon or brown trout on the prime Chipchase beats of the North Tyne. The Tyne has seen a strengthening spring run of 2SW fish and they head for the top of the river as soon as the water warms up. Proceeds will be used to help fund work in the Tyne catchment.
