A Sandy Nelson custom-built rod based on the new Epic™ 370, 4-piece FastGlass™ II olive blank. This 7ft, 3-wt rod has a lovely, smooth but crisp action for dry fly fishing, especially geared towards smaller streams where tricky casts are the norm. Brilliant at tight quarters yet able to lay out a long leader when you find yourself out of the trees and the rising fish are at the far side of the glide. Supplied with a Tweed rod bag and Epic™ glass fibre tube. It has a bespoke Ray Lee Buckeye burl and nickel silver reel seat, with a light amber and nickel silver agate stripper. It is whipped in ghost style with invisible wraps and a 3-tone olive finishing wrap to the ferrules. Supplied with a matching Mike Barrio fly line.
A Rawson 6ft 6in, 1-wt, ‘S Glass’ Fibreglass Fly Rod. A rod perfectly suited to those small, intimate streams and brooks that wild trout just love! This is a medium-actioned rod that enables smooth roll casts where the ability to back cast may be limited. Where back casts are possible, this rod throws the line out with ease, a real joy to use. The teal-coloured blank is fitted with high-quality, single leg stand-off snake guides, whipped with orange silk and with a matching orange agate stripping guide. The cork handle has been shaped to a half-wells and the reel seat is dyed maple burl with blued nickel silver fittings.
This is an auction lot that money cannot usually buy. Have you ever fancied having that trout or sea trout fly you’ve designed, sold and made commercially – all whilst contributing to a very good cause? If you are the winning bidder, you will work with the Barbless Fly designers to bring your design to the market on barbless hooks. You will name the fly (it must be legal and in good taste!) and receive 50 copies. The Wild Trout Trust receive the profits from the sale of the fly.
